‘We’ve done our share’

In uncertain economic times, every $200,000 copier contract helps.

Rob Stradling, director of the county’s Office of Information Technology, appeared before the County Council Nov. 25 seeking approval for a five-year contract to lease a high-speed copier for the county’s central printing office. The contract includes maintenance, toner and emergency repairs and is not to exceed $200,000 over the life of the lease.

Council Chairman Kevin Kamenetz told Stradling he heard an announcement that morning “that Xerox shares had actually gone up.”

“Probably one of the reasons,” Stradling dead-panned in response.

“Wall Street’s anticipating the approval of this contract,” Kamenetz said. “If we don’t approve it we’ll be contributing to the downturn of the economy.”

“We’ve done our share,” Stradling said.
