Strange Bedfellows

Republican John Cluster will be a candidate in 2010. He’s just not spilling the beans on his plans - yet.

Cluster, a Parkville resident and former state delegate, recently sent letters to some key supporters informing them of a Feb. 28 announcement about his political future.

Though he is being coy about the specifics, the smart money is on Cluster making a bid to return to the House of Delegates, according to a source close to Cluster.

Cluster, a retired Baltimore County police officer who served on the department’s tactical unit, was appointed to the 8th District seat in July 2003. He filled the vacancy created when Del. Al Redmer was appointed state insurance commissioner by then-Gov. Robert Ehrlich.

Cluster lost his 2006 re-election bid to Democratic Del. Todd Schuler.
