Del. Stein welcomes new addition

SteinGeneral Assembly sessions apparently aren’t exciting enough for Del. Dana Stein.

Stein and his wife, Margaret, celebrated the birth of their second child, Julianna Elisabeth Presley Stein, on March 8. The newest member of the family weighed in at 8-pounds, 2-ounces and was more than 21 inches long.

The delegate and his wife of three years are parents now to two girls. The first, Elayna, was born on New Year’s Eve just before Stein was sworn in to his first session as an elected delegate. (Stein was appointed to a seat in the same district in 2002 to fill a vacancy created by Michael Finifter who was appointed to the bench as a circuit court judge in Baltimore County).

“The arrival of my children has always paralleled my time in the legislature,” Stein joked.

Julianna was born at the couple’s Sudbrook Park home with the help of a midwife, an experience Stein described as “very comfortable.”

Stein and his family normally live in Annapolis most of the week during session. The delegate said he is currently commuting back and forth from the State House until his family can rejoin him in a week or so in the house he rents during the session.

Stein described Julianna as a “healthy baby in every way.”

“She has a strong pair of lungs,” Stein added.

Maybe there’s a future for her in arguing bills in the state legislature.
