Mikulski loses footing, stays on message

MikulskiNever let it be said that Sen. Barbara Mikulski can’t stay on message.

Mikulski, 73 and a four-term U.S. Senator, fell and broke her ankle in three places while leaving church in Baltimore on Sunday night. On Monday she’s was waiting to undergo surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.

Meanwhile, in D.C., her colleagues are debating universal health care with an eye on passing something before they take a break in August.

Based on a statement released by Mikulski’s office Monday, the senator is keeping her eye on the ball.

“Thanks to the wonderful team at Mercy, I am receiving excellent care for my broken ankle,” Senator Mikulski said. “This is the kind of care I want for all my constituents. And while I am following doctors’ orders, I can’t wait until I’m back on both feet — continuing my work for quality, affordable health care for every American.”
