Truth in fortune cookies? Not so much.
You just can’t trust those fortune cookie messages. Just ask Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin.
Cardin came to Towson University last night to talk health care and face a large number of people — most of whom disagree with efforts to reform health insurance at the federal level.
But that didn’t mean the senator left his sense of humor at home.
At one point, Cardin hinted that he had an amusing anecdote he wanted to share with the audience, but held back, saying that it might not be the right moment.
That “right moment” came as Cardin was offering closing comments at the end of the sometimes heated 90-minute town hall meeting.
“I was out to dinner with my wife at a Chinese restaurant,” Cardin began, speaking over some in the crowd who were emotional and complaining that the senator was closing with a joke.
“My fortune cookie told me ‘You will soon be surrounded by good friends and laughter,’ ” Cardin continued.
“I thought that would be tonight,” he said, ” but it didn’t exactly happen that way.”
